Locomotive VS Torpedo – History

On April 1 in the 4th round of Erovnuli Liga Locomotive will compete with Torpedo Kutaisi. The match between the teams of Giorgi Devdariani and Kakha Chkhetiani  will be held at Mikheil Meskhi spare stadium. The match wil take start at 14:45.


Locomotive and Torpedo are traditional rivals and they have played against each other in Erovnuli Liga (earlier Umaghlesi Liga)  30 times so far. Among these clashes Torpedo Kutaisi team appears superior.


Torpedo has managed to beat Locomotive 15 times out of 30. 8 matches ended with draw, and 7 times our team has gained victory.


The first match between Torpedo and Locomotive was held on August 8, 1997 and ended with Kutaisi winning 4:1. The only goal from Locomotive squad was scored by Giorgi Gvazava. For that time Koba Jorjikashvili was a coach of our team.


The first time when Locomotive has succeeded in beating Torpedo, was on May 23, 2001. Thanks to Kakha Gogichaishvili’s goal our team outplayed the rivals. Givi Nodia was a trainer of our team for that time.


With the biggest difference, Locomotive defeated Torpedo on November 13, 2003. Footballers of Louis Tsakiris scored 3 unanswered goals to Kutaisi. Davit Siradze, Irakli Vashakidze and Tengiz Ugrekhelidze showed themselves in this game.


The last clash between Locomotive and Torpedo was on October 15, 2016, in which Gerard Zaragoza’s team lost with the score 3:0.
