Loco’s Cup History

In the history of the independent Georgian football, “Locomotive” Tbilisi succeeded to gain the Georgian Cup for three times.

The first time “the railway workers” did it was in 2000, when they beat “Torpedo” Kutaisi in the series of penalties, in the 10th, jubilee competition final. From “Locomotive” the penalties were accurately netted by Kakha Gogichaishvili, Giorgi Balashvili, Misha Jishkariani and Zura Khizanishvili.

Loco was close to winning the Cup in 2001, however, this time the Tbilisians were outclassed by “Torpedo” in final.

In 2002, “Locomotive” won the Cup again. The rival team of the Tbilisians was “Torpedo” Kutaisi this time too. Loco finished their business within the basic time with the scorings by Suliko Davitashvili and Zaza janashia, defeating the rival 2:0.

In 2005 “Locomotive” were awarded David Kipiani Cup of Georgia for the 3rd times, when they defeated Zestafoni 2:0 at Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena, on May 26.
