Davit Kipiani – Thank You for Your Trust; The Team Is Undergoing a Renewal Process, Both Structurally and Football-Wis

FC Locomotive Tbilisi is entering the 2025 season with several changes. Davit Kipiani will take over as the club’s General Director, while Giorgi Kipiani will move to the board.

Starting from the new season, Nika Chanturia will serve as the club’s Sporting Director, and Giorgi Geguchadze Jr. will take on the role of Head Coach.

We spoke with our new General Director, Davit Kipiani, about this new challenge, as well as the future plans for the club’s first team and academy.

"I am delighted to have this opportunity. I have been part of this club’s structure for ten years, and I sincerely thank Lekso Topuria and Giorgi Kipiani for their trust. This is both a great motivation and a significant responsibility for me.

The club is currently undergoing a renewal process, both structurally and in football terms. Bringing in a specialist like Giorgi Geguchadze as Head Coach aligns perfectly with Locomotive Tbilisi’s vision. It is also exciting to see Nika Chanturia take on the role of Sporting Director. He has been with the club for a long time and knows exactly what the team needs both on and off the pitch.

As for the academy, we are making steady progress and continuing to develop. Our teams up to the U12 level are performing convincingly. There is still a lot of work to be done with the older age groups, but we are seeing progress year after year, and we must continue this path," said Davit Kipiani.
